Do-It-Yourself Calendar/Events

The Do-It-Yourself Option provides a mechanism for you maintain many areas of your web site without specialized software like MS FrontPage 2003 and without a webmaster.

You can use Calendar Creator software, MS Word, MS Publisher, Adobe Acrobat or any other desktop software that creates files in PDF or HTML format.  MS Word and MS Publisher created this file.

TIP
Each month replace this file with your current Calendar/Events.  Also, place your Calendar in the Calendars Folder filed in the correct year folder for archival purposes.

How to do it?
We created this page with MS Word.
We set the background color for the page (Format à Background).

We created Text Boxes (Insert à Text Box à Horizontal) and drew the text box to the size we wanted.  We arranged the text boxes as shown.

To add background color to the Title bar, we selected text box (click it), Format à Borders and Shading à Shading Tab and pick your color and click OK.  To change the Font Color, use the font color tool on the tool bar or select the text, Format à  Font à Font Color.

To add a Calendar, we copied from MS Publisher and pasted into this file.  You can, of course, create a web page directly from MS Publisher.

To Update Most Recent file:

Save the file as calendar.htm for uploading to Club Folder. (FILE à SAVE AS à File Name = calendar and Save As Type = Web Page).  Please note, the file name suffix (.htm) is added automatically by MS Word when you specify the “Save As Type” as Web Page.

To Update Archive File:

Save the file again using the standard file names you have adopted for your archival files.  For example, use Save as with filename = Calendar-2006-10 for uploading in the Calendar Folder (The Calendar folder stores archived Calendars in Year folders).  (FILE à SAVE AS à File Name = Calendar-2006-10 and Save As Type = Web Page).

You may also store your Calendars as PDF files using a format such as 01.pdf (Jan), 02.pdf.  Of course, you may use the same naming convention for HTML file: 01.htm , 02.htm, and so on.  (See Calendar/Events table by year and month on Home Page 2).
