Basic Bidding (first 4 lessons
free)
Choose your day or night. Missed lessons can be
made up in another class. While Bridge
Basics I is designed for newcomers
is also suitable for any player seeking a bidding review. The text used by teachers Barbara & Guy is
Audrey Grant’s excellent Bridge Basics
1 $12, which thoroughly explains modern methods. George uses his very
own text! The second hour play period reinforces the lesson. Your teachers are
very experienced.

Introduction
to Duplicate Play
To get good at Bridge you need to start playing as soon as possible. To satisfy that need we offer Duplicate Play, a class designed for beginner graduates or
any novice player wishing to enjoy a regular game. We cover the mechanics and strategy of duplicate play, in particular scoring, procedures, etiquette, and duplicate techniques. The 1st hour is lesson, the rest supervised duplicate play. In addition to covering the mechanics, the lesson introduces topics not covered in Bridge Basics I. These include overcalls, preemptive bids, takeout doubles and much more. Each lesson is enhanced by excellent handouts. The supervised play will accelerate game skills while easing fears of duplicate play.

Play of the Hand
Intermediate Declarer Play Wednesday October 31 9:30 to noon
Learn all aspects of declarer play including the following how to’s:
make a logical plan…finesse when necessary… ruff losers
in dummy… establish a side suit for discards… count your opponent’s
distribution… identify and avoid the dangerous opponent… and (if you’re really
good and promise not to gloat) endplay your hapless opponent, first by
eliminating his safe exit cards then throwing him on lead to do something
helpful. New topics every week. Recognize common hand types, plan accordingly,
and watch your results soar. Excellent handouts each class. First hour is
lesson, then supervised play.

Principles of Defense Thursday
Nov 1 9:30 to noon
We start with leads against notrump contracts, move on to leads against
suit contacts, then delve into the intricacies of signaling. With that behind
us we approach other defensive topics one at a time. These include 2nd
and 3rd hand play, when to cover an honor, when to return partner’s
suit, when to unblock an honor, when to uppercut declarer, and most important
how to count…count…count. We start by learning to count declarer’s trumps, move
on to count declarer’s tricks, and finally to count the distribution of the
suits around the table. What work! What fun! You will graduate a complete
player, ready to take on anyone in the room.
